Wood‑Oven Long Lunch

 Family, Friends & Community

The Table Without Recipe invites you to a relaxed family long lunch around the wood oven — a warm gathering created for our Table members, their friends and families, and friends of the community centre.

Some brave members of the Table are preparing and serving up a wood‑oven experience with a difference. Expect good food, good company, and the kind of friendly chaos that makes our gatherings feel like home.

Menu on Fire

Entrée: Tartello with flame‑kissed seafood
served with garden salad and pickled cherry tomatoes

Wood‑fire shiraz braised lamb, beef and pork
slow‑cooked in rich country gravy

Wood‑oven roasted vegetables & braised sides

Caramelised fruit cake with ricotta cream
kissed by the last heat of the oven

$78 per person — kids under 6 eat free
BYO drinks – we charge no corkage

Join us for a long table, a glowing oven, and a lunch made with heart, heat, and community spirit.

Location: Christie Downs Community House

Tickets: $78 — proceeds go to CDCH and our programs.

How We Run This event 'the Table' way

Perfection is optional. Disaster we know how to avoid.
Horst will estimate the food, and we’ll cover it from the pantry budget.

We need members to sign in for time slots to help with setup, service, and the final push.
If you’ve ever wanted to stand near a wood oven with a fire extinguisher “just in case”, this is your moment.

Volunteer Time Slots

9:30 – 11:00
• 2 brave members to set up the long table, glasses, plates, cutlery
• We’ll provide ice buckets for BYO drinks

11:00 – 12:00
• Members to look after glasses, cutlery, plates
• Help with service, clearing tables, and running the dishwasher

12:00 – 1:00
• Same duties — fresh hands, fresh energy

1:00 – 2:00
• Same again — keeping the flow smooth

2:00 – end
• 3 members for the final countdown, clearing, packing down, and keeping Horst from burning the last tray like the pineapple tart

Help on the go is welcome at the oven door — especially for plating the “artistically charred” items.

Who’s Invited

We’re aiming for around 30 peopleTable members, their friends and families, and friends of the community center.
